Welcome to Glen Taylor School!
My name is Chris Herlihy and I am lucky enough to be the principal of Glen Taylor School. I have been here since April 2015.
I am born and bred in Waikato. I attended Waikato University where I gained a Diploma of Teaching and a Bachelor of Education. I then moved to Auckland and was a Year 5/6 Teacher at Fruitvale School in West Auckland. While I was working there I was lucky enough to win a Fulbright Scholarship where I got to do my Masters in Economics and Entrepreneurship for Educators at the University of Delaware in the USA. I then got the job as Deputy Principal at Kelston Primary School before winning the job here at GTS. e
In my spare time, I love to play golf and am a member of Windross Farm. I also love to travel and try to see as many different cultures and countries as I can.
As the Principal of GTS, I have set some goals to achieve. They include:
To raise student achievement
To get children engaged in their learning
To have children taking ownership and responsibility for their own learning
To give children the opportunity to be involved in the wider school curriculum – sports, culture, arts etc
To develop children into successful leaders.
To create an environment where children feel comfortable and confident to learn.
Have fun!!!
Work Hard, Play Hard!!
My door is always open and I am more than happy to have a chat and show you around our wonderful school.
Chris
